Today, September 15th-ish is INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY!
DOT Day celebrates Creativity, Courage & Collaboration!
..
Peter H. Reynolds wrote a picture book called The Dot! After teacher Terry Shay showed The Dot to his classroom on September 15, 2009. From there DOT Day was born!
From Peter H. Reynolds:
Imagine the power and potential of a million people all around the world connecting, collaborating, creating and celebrating all that creativity inspires and invites. I hope you will join the growing global community of creativity champions using their talents, gifts and energy to move the world to a better place. Sign up now and celebrate Dot Day 2013!

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.
Patricia Tilton–a fellow Buckeye!–has written a great review about the book. To read this review, click HERE! (Thanks, Erik.)
..
In keeping with the celebration, I made my own DOT.
Please, make one yourself and email it to me for inclusion in this post.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY!
Now go find your creativity and passion, then make your own dot that represents YOU!

I like the idea of making my own Dot! Thanks for sharing on the Kid Lit Blog Hop. Cheryl, Hop Hostess

A lot of huge differences in the world begin with a dot, don’t they? This sounds great!

That book (DOT) was everywhere to be seen on International Dot Day. Maybe we should put together a book called Dot Dot Dot and pitch it for the next International Dot Day. I’m sure it will do well. What do you think? Thanks for linking in the Kid Lit Blog Hop! 🙂

Thats an awesome way to celebrate The Dot Day! I love Peter Reynolds books. His books about art are an inspiration! I wish I had read them when I was little and felt completely like Vashti! But its never too late 🙂

I am so glad you are here and enjoyed the post. Dot Day is not over, not yet. It is on the 15th-ish. That could mean a week or even a month from now. Read the book again, for the child in you, and enjoy it as you wish you had then. 🙂

This is wonderful. I am glad to see this link as I reviewed this book several weeks ago and linked up with this International Dot Day. I am glad to see readers being creative no matter what age we are! The whole Creatrilogy series is wonderful!

I enjoyed reading about Dot Day (my daughter who is a teacher had shared the book with me, and I loved it – as do many people I see.) As usual, Sue, you have a lot to share with readers and authors alike. I am especially looking forward to sharing my next book with you, to be released in 2014: My Fingerpaint Masterpiece. Please stay tuned!

My – Your – Fingerprint Masterpiece: is that the title to the forthcoming hit? I cannot wait to read it. It will surely be your 5th hit in a row. What a record, uh, what a book! 🙂

My Fingerpaint Masterpiece is the title (not fingerprint…sort of changes the concept!) It will be my 6th book – so hopefully a 6th hit (and no record!) A little different than the manners books, but still teaching… I’d love an early review, once it’s ready to share…

What a fabulous initiative. Thanks so much for bringing it to our attention on the Kid Lit Blog Hop. In our house, everything is a dot and it seems that I do nothing but pick up round and square and triangle things all day he he. Happy Dot day, I will try to be inspired by our Dotty mess.

Sounds like you and yours celebrate Dot Day every day! Julie, you are more creative that you think. Maybe being as you are down *there,* and have nothing else to do but celebrate that you are in Australia, while the rest of the world is not. I’d celebrate that, if I were down *there*! 😀

VERY creative, Suzanne 🙂 You know, I kept hearing people mentioning “Dot Day” for the past few weeks, and I had no idea what it was. I finally googled it some time last week and NOW I know! 😀 I’ve loved the book for a long time, and love what’s now been built around it. I think Peter Reynolds is fantastic, I loved him more knowing he and his wife (I believe with his wife) opened a bookstore, and then THIS was the icing 🙂 It looked like you had to be a teacher or have an organization to register, and wanted to know how to participate as an individual. Now I know! You just DO it! 🙂 Next year I will, for sure. This year I actually ended up missing it ’cause of what’s been going on for me lately. Haven’t been around much!

Well, it is time you got around and built it . . . got a round, get it?? 😆
I look forward to seeing your dot next year. Or, if you do not want to wait, you can make one anytime. The Dot Day is officially September 15th-ish. Do it Christmas Eve if you want! That is 15-ish. I am so glad you had the time to stop by. 🙂

That book is called Is It Big or Is It Little? I will be reviewing soon. First I need to pick up all those books and put them back in order. 🙂
I took one picture and didn’t have that orange circle of the above book in the middle. It wasn’t until I saw it in a post preview that the dot should be in the middle. Re-Take! Nice thing about today’s cameras. I am not as creative as you and your sister. Things come to me almost too late. 😀
