This is my non-review say, making it the best to join a one-day event called the 10 for 10: 2014 Nonfiction Book Challenge. Which 10 nonfiction books could I not live without in 2014? This is brought to you by the beautiful minds of Cathy Mere—Reflect & Refine—Mandy Robek—Enjoy & Embrace Learning—and Julie Balen—Write at the Edge. Here are the rules:
- What: 10 nonfiction books you can’t live without
- Hashtag: #nf10for10
- Who: Anyone interested — educators, media specialists, librarians, parents, etc.
- When: Wednesday, February 19th
- Where: All posts will need to be linked at Write at the Edge. Then I will move them into a jog resource during the week of the event.
As you can see, I am a day late. Is that really new for me. Well, even though I already had a commitment for yesterday I still wanted to take part, so here is my list of 10 favorite nonfiction books, in no particular order:

Now, my dear readers what are the 10 nonfiction books you could not live without or are your favorite? I had a hard time narrowing it down to 10, and the list will change as the year progresses and I hear of, or am sent, other great nonfiction books for children and middle graders.
I will hopefully have the energy to write a review later today. It is now almost 4 AM. Reviewing is a tough job. 🙂 If you do not see a review tomorrow, you most certainly will on Saturday, but I am betting my strength will find its way back, considering the book I want to tell you about next. It is one of those 10 above. Can you guess which one? I’d put this one at or near number 1 on the list above.
See you tomorrow.
PRESS HERE is a favorite of mine, too, and I loved ON A BEAM OF LIGHT! Haven’t read the others though : /

Thanks for the great nonfiction recommendations. I am intrigued by the cover of Wisdom. I’m going to have to check out Crazy Car Poems too.

Your are welcome. I see you are from Columbus. I am planning on moving there is the very near future. Had lived there the first 20 years of my adult life. Love it and cannot wait to get back! 🙂
Wisdom is an awe inspiring albatross that has given birth again! She should not be still birthing but she keeps at it. Amazing true story.

#2 – Crazy Car Poems – Tis the one, you picked it. Once you see, you’ll wanna git, it. 😀
#5 – *The Pullman Porter will be up soon
#4 – Press Here – Reviewed last year. I think you may have commented on it, silly. 🙂

Very nice. A year ago. I am allowed to forget. 😛

Oh, yes, you are forgiven. You are more than forgiven, you are allowed given the number of books you read each year. Have you ever figured out the number of books you read each year? How about just the number of them you review? I can’t remember all of them either. I just love picking on you. It is so much fun — you take it and then give it back! And it is all about books, great fun. 🙂

Sue, how are you feeling? Things going OK?

I’m still “out of the office” but I feel okay. Just an infection needing kick-butt anit-biotics. Trying to get docs to do this at home, but still slowed me down when it takes one of my hands away. I do not like to hunt-and-peck

Feel better, my friend, and I hope (but sincerely doubt) they’re giving you mega-big doses of probiotics to help balance out what the antibiotics are doing to your system!

I don’t read much non-fiction at all – children’s or adult’s. I did read and love Press Here, and I did predict that you’d have a baseball book in your list! 🙂

You knew I’d have a baseball book on my list? That is funny. Guess I have let it be known I like baseball, huh? I do like baseball, and dog books, and cat picture books.
