Today is October 10th! What’s the big deal about today, October 10th? Well, October 10th, that’s today, is Star Wars Reads Day, the day to get your young children hooked on Star Wars. Chronicle Books has a wide selection of Star Wars books and games to get you in the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I was to present to you, “for your consideration” (oops, Twilight Zone), a board book series called the Star Wars® Epic Yarns. To quote Han Solo, “It’s not my fault.” The books were not transported by “the speed of light” (oh, that’s Superman), so I wait. But you do not need to wait. I can tell you all about them today—and I have pictures—and review them later!

Chronicle Books board books, including the Star Wars® Epic Yarns, are made from strong cardboard only a Jedi Master could tear. If your Padawan should drip grape jelly—I prefer tart cherry—onto the cover or any of the 12 pages, that nuisance glob will wipe off, leaving the epic story clean and shiny once more. And little hands can easily turn the pages.

For a moment, let’s return to 1977.

I entered a crowded, dark, non-digital movie theater to watch Star Wars. Popcorn crunched under foot as I walked to a center seat. The kid behind me kicked my seat back . . . and kicked . . . and kicked . . . I moved. As the opening lines scroll out into space—“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…”—I sat mesmerized. C3PO and R2D2 made me laugh and those soldiers dressed in white plastic scared me. If not for the dashing Han Solo I might have never watched more than the first movie. I have seen them all—more than once.

Your young children may not share that experience when enjoying the Star Wars® Epic Yarns; you can read another review here elitist-gaming.com/hearthstone/ with a twist to a game called Hearthstone, but they will want to know more about this multi-generational iconic movie. If your kid likes the game wow then you can get him the best gaming mouse for wow and trust me he´ll thank you later. When that happens, it would be “highly illogical” (yikes, Star Trek), for you to go anywhere but back to Chronicle Books.

For the three to five-year-old Padawans (Jedi younglings in training to use The Force), the book to read is Goodnight Darth Vader. As the Jedi younglings age into the four to seven-year-old group (you know by now who has the book), Darth Vader and Son is perfect for special dad-and-son reading time.

Moms, Darth Vader has not left you out, no, for you and everyone who enjoys baking (includes me), Chronicle Books released Wookiee Pies, Clone Scones, and Other Galactic Goodies. I wish I could tell you the cookies are out of this world, but I have not actually seen the book.

I know, what a terrible reviewer I am, reviewing a book I’ve never read. Well, again, as Han Solo once said, “It’s not my fault.” I don’t get many cookbooks. So let’s just call this one a recommendation.

Chronicle Books publishes all the books you need to indoctrinate introduced your children to Star Wars and all the wacky and wonderful characters.

But we are not quite done. Never would Obi-Wan Kenobi leave out girls. If he did, I am sure his force would go dark forever. That will never happen because Vader’s Little Princess saves his, um, light saber.
