Today is World Kissing Day. Did you know . . . the World Record for the L o n g e s t K i s s was kissed by Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarathold, from Thailand, for a record 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds. Whoa! Well, since today’s book is My Amazing Dad, I suggest all children, young and old, kiss your father. You need not break the Tiranaratholds’s record—or even their 58 seconds.

My dad is
amazing!
My dad is not like other dads. He is not
good at:
mowing the lawn
baking cakes
fixing a leaky faucet
remembering bedtime
But, he is good at:
making mazes
eating cakes
making bubble baths*
telling bedtime stories
And this is what makes him—
and many other
stay-at-home
dads—so special!”

Review
Dad is not like other dads. One big reason why: he’s a stay-at-home dad. Dad is also different from other dads because he “Isn’t very good at mowing the lawn.” One big reason why: because “he’s great at making mazes.” Dad is different from other dads because he “never remembers to tell me it’s time for bed.” One big reason why: “he tells the best stories.”
This young girl offers examples or her supposedly ham-handed father; dad cannot mow the lawn or fix a leaky faucet. But the truth is Dad’s brain prioritizes activities with his children, over those without. I bet, once both kids are in school, he will turn into a full-fledge super-mom dad. He’ll bake cakes, trim the turf, fix the faucet, and tell time correctly, while waiting for his kids to return from school. Until then, his thoughts are on caring for his children twenty-four hours a day and not much of anything else—except for mom, of course. Dad’s daughter thinks he cannot mow the lawn, but in reality, instead of a finely manicured lawn, dad creates mazes for his children to enjoy.
My Amazing Dad is a wonderful tribute—a love letter—to all the stay-at-home dads who gladly traded careers for the title Mr. Mom. Not enough children’s book celebrate dad, let alone as lovingly as My Amazing Dad celebrates him. The back cover’s silhouette of dad holding hands with both children says it all: involved and interested, loving father. My Amazing Dad is a tribute to all dads interested and involved in their children’s lives.

*The yellow in the book description section is changed to navy blue so it is easier to read. The yellow looks great on the jacket flap.
This sounds like a marvelous book for dads and their kids! 😀

It really is terrific. It’s one of the best I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot the past few weeks.
