Young children will have seven animals to learn in Mommy Snuggles. A tiger walks, swan glides, koala climbs, penguin waddles, kangaroo jumps, and the otter floats. Each animal moves in a different fashion. Each are also carrying a baby. The tiger carries her baby, called a cub, in her mouth; the swan carries her baby, called a cygnet, under her wing; and the koala carries her baby, called a joey, on her back.
There is so much for a young child to grasp in Mommy Snuggles. The most important concept is the love between mommies and their babies, no matter the type of animal. Each animal, without the use of a carriage, finds a way to keep their baby close and take it with them wherever she may travel.
Young children will have no difficulty recognizing each animal, as the illustrations are realistic. Tiger walks on a savannah, koala holds on to a bamboo tree, and the swan and the otter float on calm waters. The last animal holds her baby in her arms, while the child holds tight around mommy’s neck.
Daddy Dreams
“Animal Daddies love keeping their babies by their sides, even when they’re asleep! See how different animal dads sleep and dream in this sweet celebration of a father’s love. No matter how many Z’s are caught, the daddy’s little one is never far away.” [BACK COVER]

[WC 236]
Daddy Dreams will have young children dreaming about all the animals in this small book for the youngest pre-readers. Daddies dream away, each in a different position as their child is nearby watching them dream. The lion lays on his side, with its cub draped over its leg watching. A horse stands on its feet when it dreams, as does the flamingo, but only on one leg. Both have a baby watching them sleep.
Unlike Mommy Snuggles, Daddy Dreams does not mention the babies by their names (cub, foal, pup, chick, hatchling, and porcupette), or what the babies do while dad sleeps. It would have been nice to have a sleeping baby snuggling with daddy. Still, Daddy Dreams is a beautiful board book young children will love. The realistic images capture each animal in its natural habitat.

Each book in this series is 5 ½ inches square, made of sturdy, thick cardboard, with a glossy finish, which makes for easy cleaning. The books are small for little fingers to grasp and easily carry around without straining to hold on. After a few readings with the child’s mother or father, young children will be able to recognize different animals and their babies. This series is perfect for Mother’s Day on May 14th and Father’s Day on June 18th. For mom: Mommy Loves, Mommy Hugs, and this years’ Mommy Snuggles. For dads: Daddy Kisses, Daddy Cuddles, and this year’s Daddy Dreams.

Lovely reviews, and thanks for mentioning the sturdiness of the books as that’s so important for ‘last-a-bility’!
