It’s Science Day and all the students in Scott’s class have brought their best science projects to show off and maybe win. Scott brings his bot, the one he built.
The teacher is ready to get the day started, but first she must get the kids to stop gawking at Scott’s bot. Something knocks into the small aquarium holding the fire ants, which run up the teacher’s pants—polka dot pants.

With ants on the floor, the carnivorous plants go after the ants, but the hungry frog, sitting on a log in the bog, want those ants, so it jumps into the fray. A boa in its cozy cage . . . until it isn’t. The boa frightens the frog, who is gobbling goodies off the carnivorous plant, who’s eating ants off the teacher’s polka dot pants, when a volcano explosion shoots lava . . . and so it goes until Scott finally steps it and stops it all with his bot. Once order is restored, readers will wonder if it will start again, many hoping it will.
The Bot that Scott Built is full of alliteration, rhymes, and generally fun text to read. The story is a crazy madhouse of one problem leading into another and continues until every project on the floor is involved in some way. Kids who love silly stories, or silly text, will love The Bot that Scott Built. If played out, the story would be a slapstick comedy extravaganza. Visually, the story is full of details large and small. Kids will have a lot to delight their eyes, all played out colorfully and crazily upon the page.

The Bot that Scott Built will entertain young boys and girls who enjoy slapstick situations. There is little about science involved in the story, though the theme works well. Parents will enjoy reading the text. With the repetition in each stanza, even young children will catch on quickly. Soon all will be reciting the story from memory, laughing and giggling along the way. The Bot that Scott Built is a fun story for all to enjoy, whether reader or listener. The illustrations will keep young listeners busy and they will love reading the text, especially as it gets more and more repetitious.
The Bot that Scott Built is a fun story, good for children learning to read, and for those who love silly situations. A fun story time book.
